MODERN CRAFT

Vica | furniture by Selldorf ArchitectsI posted some of the work of Selldorf Architects yesterday, but did you get a chance to admire their product line, Vica? The grain of walnut bed is so lovely... the organic curves juxtaposed to the clean lines of the bed frame... love it.

Oh, don't forget that the succulent note card giveaway ends Thursday!

LONG LAST

It is launch day for the Eames postage... if you are at the post office, watch out... here I come! I feel like we've been waiting forever.

UNOBSTRUCTED

Alison Spear Interiors 1Alison Spear Interiors 2I love to see how different designers utilize lucite (or glass) furniture in their spaces. Award-winning designer Alison Spear's own dining room is a great example (above). The images of her space just feel good, don't they? Open... fresh. She also uses these lucite chairs in her commercial project for Genki Sushi (below).Alison Spear Interiors 3Alison Spear Interiors 4
And finally, look at this lucite table on craigslist!?! You can pick up the Angela Adams rug, too!Lucite Coffee Table
…hope everyone had a nice weekend. The long Memorial Day weekend was definitely well received in the StetsonThompson household, so relaxing.

LEVEL 14

Brave Space Design 1I have a confession. I am addicted to Tetris on my mobile phone. It takes me back to the good ol' Super Nintendo days (insert sigh here). However, there is a level, a level I cannot surpass... level 14. My fingers just can't move fast enough to get the proper lock-up. Lucky for me, Brave Space Design has with their Tetrad shelving system.Brave Space Design 2Brave Space Design 3
I love the asymmetry of the Stagger collection as well. Actually, I love it all.Brave Space Design 4Brave Space Design 5

craigslist 9 drawer dresserMy craigslist endeavor was a success... I found a 9-drawer cherry dresser for only $70! Got it in the house (not fun) now I get to fill it. I love storage... and craigslist!

SHOWCASE

Another reason why I would love to live in San Francisco... Gioi Tran from Applegate Tran (see yesterday's post on their San Francisco Loft) emailed me these beautiful photos from this year's San Francisco Decorator Showcase. For the last 30 years, San Francisco mansions have been transformed by world-renowned designers to benefit San Francisco University High School's financial aid program. The showcase house is open until May 26th. Inspiring or what?

LOFTY COMBINATIONS

Happy Monday, everybody! M & I will be on press checks the rest of the week... fingers crossed our project prints perfectly. Anyway, I am really loving this San Francisco Loft by Applegate Tran: steel and glass sliding doors juxt the fabric sliding curtain across the room, high gloss next to flat matte… Those windows allow for so much gorgeous natural light and frame the skyline beautifully.

Also, make sure to take a look at their furniture line... so many pretties.

4PLI

Plywood never looked so good. I love the innovative furniture from architectural design firm 4•pli. Embracing the plywood layers and utilizing them in the design and pattern of the pieces, 4•pli seems to have mastered this material. Look at the fabrication of Little Giant Food & Drink where the above chair was designed… all those interlocking pieces make quite a puzzle.

YES, PLEASE

I think I have found my ideal workstation. Jaime over at Design Milk and Vitamin D(esign) recently posted on this amazing work trolley (see below) by the Jennifer Newman Studio. The trolley would be perfect for portfolios, drawing pads, etc and would give me additional tabletop work space. But I am really in love with the gap desk… powder-coated aluminum, casters and my favorite, the “unique access gap for plug and wire management”. Great color selections, too. Thanks, Jaime. Now, to find a retailer in the States...

{p.s.} Isn‘t this Corian Urban-C table great!?! 100% polished Corian.

FRESH START

Showhome, is just that. Lucy Ryder Richardson and business partner Petra Curtis began their company with a one day sale at Lucy’s home; the mid-century Scandinavian furniture and accessories offered quickly sold out. While her home continues to house the company’s lovely finds (available by appointment), you can also shop their mid-century and contemporary products online. Having a hard time finding a specific item or pulling your room together? Showhome also offers its sourcing and consultation services.

If you are near London’s Dulwich College the end of March, make sure to drop into the Midcentury.Modern show and see the ladies… wish I could be there!

AVAILABLE

This weekend I found myself returning to Bond&Bowery multiple times to lust after the Vinini Starburst Chandelier and a few other items…

Last but certainly not least, this gorgeous Edward Wormley 8 drawer chest with exposed box joints. It is actually worth more than my car, but a girl can dream, right?

ICH LIEBE DIESE

I must be in a wall unit phase… two posts in a row! Or maybe my intuition is telling me I need to get more organized. Well whatever the reason, I loved the Porter Shelf when I came across it. Berlin based Martin Holzapfel is a furniture and interior designer known for creating functional items with tasteful simplicity. Doesn’t it look great with the fresh fruit and glassware displayed in it?

BELLO

This is going straight into my “must-haves” for my next place. Ledge shelving unit, from Pallucco, is set at an angle creating an interesting contrast against the smooth wall. Pallucco says this unit “recalls rocks rising steeply out of the sea, natural cliff faces created by the constant action of waves and strong winds.” …love that. I also love that depending on where one stands, the unit will display different colors and shadows. Oh, and the unit is adjustable so the shelves can face right or left depending on your preference.
The Guardian of Light floor lamp above is also quite lovely. The shade flap can be opened to reveal the gentle light center or closed to cloak the brilliance. Loving the pendants too.

FINALLY

The United States Postal Service has just officially created the best stamps ever. As some of you might have heard, the design world is abuzz with the recent announcement of the Charles and Ray Eames first-class stamps. They should be available this summer. You better believe I will be buying out our local store… (I’ll be the one with my elbows up pushing through the design savvy crowds.)

Hopefully, they won’t change the price of postage just as they are released.

D O N ’ T E V E N …

Just when I thought my post on OCHRE couldn’t get any better… I receive an email from Andrew over at OCHRE notifying me they also have a new online store showcasing some of their smaller home accessories and that of their friends. If only Andrew knew how he has made my day. Do you think they also sell self-restraint? This could be a very dangerous place to know about.

Don’t forget to check out some of their fabulous vintage finds...
(Have I said how much I love all of their product photography? Beautiful.)

D O N ’ T …

Seriously, don’t even get me started… I was speechless as I examined the OCHRE site and had to tell myself, “I will not covet OCHRE’s merchandise. I will not covet these rooms.” Each item seemingly more stunning and flawless than the next whether it was the Snooze Sofa (above) or the Light Drizzle Chandelier (below). OCHRE’s unique and thoughtful combinations of materials, shape and form create a glamorous compatibility that is sure to sophisticate any room.

B O A R D

Happy New Year! Our 2600 mile road trip back to Washington was a success and, surprisingly, I feel well rested. But, please forgive me while I get back into the blogging groove; it seems in 11 days I have forgotten how to type… I was inspired by the talented collaboration over at San Francisco based Council and their collection: optimism. The collection includes seating, tables and storage. You know I am a sucker for all things high-gloss and lacquered, so naturally I was drawn to the Aura Credenza with its combination of white lacquer and floating wood grain. Contact Council here to purchase.

P Y R A M I D

A place for everything, right? If I (Stets) was a thing, I wouldn’t mind this place at all. These boxes are made of fine quality linen finish paper (a favorite of M’s) and ship flat but are easy to assemble. HOTEL by Pure Nomade can be stacked vertically or staggered in rows. I love their use as a colorful side table below. To purchase, please visit YoyaShop.

A numbered edition by Rob Zinn, Burnt Credenza 07’s interesting contrast of materials (scorched and oiled reclaimed douglas fir, powder coated aluminum doors and hand carved and foundry cast solid bronze legs) make it truly unique and quite alluring.
